Risen
What swells the soul in soft strokes of serenity? Is there a calm that endures beyond the day?
How often we struggle to find that hush in the chaos. And we try so many means to avoid its noise.
Sometimes it becomes so hard. The stress and problems drain so much. We get angry and our mind floods with negative thoughts.
And part of us is convinced that is wrong since it is contrary to being spiritual. We sure aren’t going to admit in church.
Instead we indulge in the game of not telling. Keep those part of our sinfulness a secret and figure we are safe.
Only we so avoid the truth. That reality of how we can’t stop being sinners. And thinking otherwise never helps.
Still some so love that artificial sense of being above it all. An impression being left they are living on some mountain top and never get into the valley.
Like for example when it comes to the area of forgiveness and being loving. Oh there is such a wide latitude on that subject.
I’ve know some who really tried to make it seem like they never had bad thoughts, never hated or even disliked others. Yet some will always insist they aren’t that way.
It is sad when the truth isn’t there. Then we can truly be so sad for such people because they truly haven’t accepted grace.
And without that acceptance it all becomes a game. They will not have risen from their needs.
They will simply pretend. And that will always be the thing that will cause them to fall in a bad way.
But for those of grace and faith this is not the problem. We know God takes us the way we are.
This is the part of the process of true growth. That place where one understand the Lord is on His throne and not us.
If we remember it then we are blessed. And then we truly rise in the Lord. But forget and we get lost.
Kept in a valley of our own doing.
