Morning has no eyes
to shred withdrawal's shroud,
dressing me in such hell.

The puke green wall of my rehab pit
feel like they are always closing in,
suffocating my insides,
but not as strangling as those restraints,
which they have finally removed.

Today is clemency,
pardon's memo received,
declaring victory over addiction's apocalypse
surviving all the sweats and screams,
haven't seen the purple monkeys
in five days.

Soon, I'll depart this cold turkey horror,
hopefully never returning,
happily abandoning,
my gods that live in bottles.
