Supports

They are the wooden timbers
built to make homes upon water
where land is sparse and the heart craves covering,
without those artificial poles to give life
unto those dreams
in places where nature’s tears
flood the soil of its foundation

once more the mind called upon creativity’s supports
so existence isn’t drowned
by the wash of tides or streams,
for the spirit will find a way to thrive
even if it means
the construction of hopes
upon the liquid face of time.
