I SEE

I see
in ascending and vaporous circles,
the consummate flickers of breath
never confessed.
It is an air
repressed
by laughter and lies,
which flows
as translucent ripples of doubt
out of weary and regretful eyes
seeking in futile escape gasps
deliverance
from fear’s enslaving cruelty.
Man invents his own gods
to worship as salvation,
but the Lord
seeks those
who by faith
accept his sovereignty
over all creation.
