Remains

Seeing in the eyes
the corpses of dead hopes
buried in despair's shadowy valley.

Inspiration's shovel lovingly
excavates the skeletons.
Each bone of thought
unearthed and cleansed of sadness
that it would no longer decay.

Slowly the archaeologist of the heart
caring to preserve faith's marrow
treats the find as a treasure.

Putting it on display in forgiveness' s museum
where light of acceptance shines
upon what was lost
never speaking of it as failure
just an exhibit of redemption.
