Shade
Emerald arches shelter from the sun
beneath its leafy canopy my heart seeks shade,
a stroll along the long concrete path
where shadows hide my grief,
cool breath of breeze hangs its pearls of peace
across my thoughts in its serene necklace.
Life scurries by in four wheeled chariots
none asking of my presence its meaning or destination,
left to wander through the spreading umbrella of scenic umbras
just another blurry phantom face, forgotten.
Grateful for the sweet release
under the branches covering with their silent charms,
that on a day when the world is distant and neglectful,
this journey gives my mind some peace.
Harmony sings in the rustling rhapsody,
end of walkway brings ease to lament's circus
fleeting fears carried away by the wind,
joy flushes in my being because this sojourn speaks
with its quiet vigil in inviting dispensation
unto a transient spirit without an isle of care on which to land.
