Standing
isn’t always
a voluntary act.
It isn’t always
because
in shouting
others will notice.
And though Heaven’s light
shines upon another’s face
to abide in a stance of trust
is still to know
of the Lord’s
bounty of grace.
For in the race
between crib and crypt
all have stumbled
along the trail,
but some stand in faith
knowing God’s word of promise
shall eventually prevail.
